As an ultralight travel enthusiast, you always search for
ways to improve, reduce and maximize the efficiency of the things you haul
around. As someone, who cut down the weight of his luggage from around 20kg
initially to 6kg during my most recent travels, I have found two interesting
articles highlighting ways to ditch all liquids from your luggage.
The first article, by Tracey from WanderingMinimalist.com
titled “Ditch the Liquids – Switch to Solid Toiletries for Carry-on Travel”
dives into the advantages of leaving the liquids behind. First of all she
stresses the convenience it brings to airplane travel by not having to take out
your toiletry bag from your luggage. Second, she concludes that solid products
take up less space, last longer and weigh less than their liquid alternatives.

The second article, by Viki from Chronic-Wanderlust.com
titled “Traveling without liquids – What’s in my toiletry kit” summarizes and
analyzes a wide range of products that can act as substitutes for their liquid
alternatives. She analyzes several products ranging from solid shampoos to
deodorants and even solid toothpaste.
Drawing on these two articles and my own experiences as an
ultralight travel enthusiast I have listed three essential ways for you to
ditch the liquids from your luggage:
- Use Soap Bars – Soap bars are solid and can double as shampoo and detergent if chosen properly.
- Toothpaste Powder – Brands such as The Dirt or Lush provide a solid and natural alternative to traditional toothpaste.
- Crystal Deodorant – Crystal deodorant is as effective as traditional deodorant, takes less space, is environmentally friendly and lasts longer.
Reinvent your travel toiletry kit today, go liquid-less and
never have to worry about liquids in your carry-on luggage anymore.
